After a recent visit by my father where he caught 45 Carp and seven cats including 5 20's up to 27lb, we decided it would deserve a return visit. When we left Ebbw Vale the weather was fine but it turned nasty during the night with strong winds and heavy rain but this did not stop the fish feeding though. Cant wait to return.
5 common carp from 12 to 15lb, one catfish 29lb 8oz. My father also had 4 carp, biggest 12lb and 1 cat of 13lb

This was my first time to Celtic Lakes, I did a 48hr. The weather was great especially on the Sunday. The one thing that I noticed was the excellent condition of the fish. I found this an easy water to fish and that over baiting spooked the fish. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I will most definitely visit this venue again. Thanks for a great weekend.
26lb Mirror, 16lb 7oz Common and the 2lb bream that had me hopping out of my bivvie in my sleeping bag at 0400hrs
Used bait boat to bait up area had 2 fish 10lb + 16lb 7oz using pop-up boilies. I found that the best tactic was using method feeder with a 50/50 mix of ground bait/particles. Hookbait was critically balanced maize on hair rig with size 10 Korda choddy hook. This caught me 10 carp 7lb 12oz to 26lb. I had small number of bream, 4 I think. I fished the last peg near the lodges. I found the best area was in the far margins near inlet and to the right of inlet. This is where the 26lb came out of.

Wet and very windy.
27 lb catfish
The best out of 4 catfish caught by myself in the carp master competition. We also landed 60lb of carp, not the best bag of carp by a long while with the winners getting close to 300lb of carp. We came last but with the biggest cat landed and a personal best cat for me it was not all bad. All carp and cats were taken on obsession boils with the cats taking a liking to the mean green boilies and most of the carp coming on peanut, honey, pineapple boilies chopped up in very small pva bags.

Im from Swansea, its my third time to this amazing venue. The weather gave us bright hot days and cold nights, i think this did affect the fishing slightly, but still had a great time with some excellent sport. Money well spent.
Over a 48 hour session caught various carp to 15lb, with a Catfish at 23lbs
Most of the carp fell to various boilies from pineapple to cc moores meteor boilies over beds of Vitalin. Catfish fell for a (surprise, surprise) 10mm pop-up tuti frutti boilie coupled with a grain of white, fake sweetcorn.

A good Wales Carp Masters qualifier all round, weather made it hard work (knackered Sunday) but overall had a good time and worth all the effort. Especially coming 3rd and beating the paltry O'Regan Family, who have taken the damning defeat quite badly!!! Again thanks to the excellent work by the Marshals especially in the rough conditions.
12lb 9 oz Common, variety of lower weights all around 10lb region.

Sunny intervals with a north westerly wind. We have both fished lake 5 many times in the past with similar results. To date our visits have been day only but would assume that the nights would be just as prolific, in short a good action water and anyone failing to catch from here should consider ebay for their kit !!!
50 carp caught between us, largest 15lb

We are regular visitors to Celtic Lakes. We traveled down from Shropshire, the
weather was really hot & sunny. We fished lake 6 around the back of the islands

Tactics: as it was hot the carp were on the surface, so i decided to chuck out an
orange bubble float and try floating crusty bread. To my surprise the cat took it

3rd visit and it just gets better and better. 2 days sunny and then day of intermittent rain but the carp fed on regardless.
This is destined to become wales best course fishery bar none. John Carney and team have got this fishery down to a fine art. I will be back again, again, and again. Don,t take my word for it try it yourself you will not be disappointed. If you can't catch carp here then take up golf. LOL

The final match of this years winter league was held at Celtic Lakes Resort in
Lampeter. Sixteen anglers took part and today either Nick Williams or John
Charlesworth would become winter league champion and the battle for third place
resolved also. Nick who was trailing John by one point at the start of the match
stormed into an early lead landing carp to 10lb in the first hour on lake 4,
with junior Welsh International Ryan Hughes also catching well. Meanwhile on lake
5 (Churchill), which was favourite to produce the winners today things were not
going well and the favoured pegs not producing many fish at all.

Me and my father were fishing a 24hr session. We caught 3 fish between us, 2 mirrors
and 1 common.
We are from Banwen and we are regular visitors and it was cold and windy.
Common was easily over 15lbs and the 2 mirrors were lower
doubles.
Me and my father were told to put at least 1 rod in the margins and put a couple
of kgs over the top so we did and caught all 3 fish in the margins all on rubber
sweet corn which we did not have much faith in because it has not caught us that
many fish on it so we thought we would use it and we caught all 3 fish on it.

We are both regulars to the venue. Jesse is one of my clients and he fished lake 6 under my coaching. We covered many aspects including spodding and marker float work, all being made easy by the fact that Celtic Lakes is the perfect venue for this! The weather was very sunny and quite warm for mid February! South-Easterly gentle breeze.
14lb 8oz Mirror, 10lb 5oz Mirror
We fished a mixture of bottom baits and critically balanced pop ups too. These were our own Nuts about Carp Plum N-butryic and Pineapple Pro baits fished on 360 rigs. We fished up tight to the far margin and all the fish came from there.

After hearing a few reports that lake 6 has been fishing really slow, we decided
that a bit of action was required for the day.
Although the majority of the fish that we caught were singles, it was still good fun catching over thirty carp between us.
The weather was absolutely atrocious, with the rain not stopping even for a minute with a strong southerly wind.
I think that we\'ll wait for a bit of warmer weather next time and hit lake 6 for the cats.
