The mirror carp was caught at 12.30 am with a screaming run off peg 16, the common carp was caught at 05.30. Both fish off the same rod fished tight to the margin ten yards to the left of the peg.
Mirror 30lb 2, Common 30lb 4
Gary advised halibut pellets where going well so we fished over a bed of halibut pellet with a 21mm dynamite cat pellet on a long hair to a size 8 hook. We took his advise and beat our PB twice in one night.
We fish all over but could not believe the experience to achieve not only our 1st 30lb fish but two in one night - we will be back as we still havent got a cat.

Common Carp 24Lb
Used a chod rig with 12mm Cell boilie over a PVA bag of 2mm halibut pellets. Had a run early in the morning but I think if you use some really oily pellets then you will have non stop with action.
From Cardiff and have never fished at the fshery before. Great welcome and advice from Richie. Just checking the 5 day forecast now to see when's best for a return visit |

Catfish 14lb 6oz
4 smaller commons aound the 10lb mark not weighed.
All caught on simple bolt rigs and single sauce boilies, over a large bed of the sauce pellets and mixed sizes of hallibut pellets, with a few boilies scattered in, size 7 hook.
Drove down from Preston (took 5 hours). Caught 7 of the fish in the first 12 hours, ended up taking the rods out of the water at 02:00 AM to get some sleep. Could do with a water like this up north, keep up the good work. Will definitely be back. |

i had 8 carp in total, a couple of mirrors and commons, nothing big though. The bigges I had was 11LB. I lost a cat at 3 in the morning, well gutted. Still aint had one yet
Spicy tuna boilies on a 2 oz lead, simple bolt rig done the trick. Quite far out. I put plenty of groundbait and pellets down in the swim. Swim was fizzing up.
I live in Pontypool and fish here as much as I can around work. Still in search of my first cat, I havent had one yet.

Catfish 31 lb
Catfish 14 lb 8 oz
3 commons, all mid doubles, did not bother weighing
Did not really like the peg which i had as i was in a corner swim. I mainly went for the boilie approach which i do most of the time on my local waters. I had quite a bit of open water out infront of me and i just spread mainline cell boiles 15mm and 18mm evrywhere with my throwing stick. I used quite a lot of bait and kept it going in after every take, about 50 baits. I spread 1 kilo at noon and one kilo every night before 7pm. I think you need to put in a lot of bait because some of the local lads are banging in 25kg of pellet for the cats. I just used 10\" soft coated braid hooklinks with a 15mm cell bottom bait with a size 8 curv shank hook. use shorter hooklinks in the margin also ejected the leads on the take after a few lost fish.
Carp were spawning unfortunately and hot weather slowed the fishng. Got most takes at dawn and in the night.

Lake 5 fishing well again after the big freeze. All anglers who fished Sunday caught with half banking 4 or more carp.
Lake 6 little more difficult but worth the challenge of banking at least 2 fish in the middle of winter if your prepared for a challenge.
9lb simmo carp, 13lb common. Dropped a bigger fish just before dark.
Single high attract boilies fished out in open water over scattering of freebies. Fishing pegs 17- 25 for best chance of a result.
